Weightlifting has been in sharp focus all day at the Athens Olympic Games after 5 women weight-lifters were found to have tested positive for anabolic steroid.
The International Weight-lifting Federation previsionally suspended all 5 women lifters, the 5 women are Morocco, Moldova, Hungaria, India and Turkey. All five have tested positive after out-of-competition tests.
Later in the day, the world anti-doping agency recomended suspension for 2 more women lifters for doping violation.
The Indian lifter Karnam Malleswari who left Athens without participating in her event has been probably suspended by the Indian Olympic Assogciation.
"One of our weight-lifter Miss Karnam Malleswari had been tested in 2004 competition and her urine sample was been found positive for steroid. "
If found guilty all 5 women lifers will face a two year suspension, and will not be allowed to take part in the Beijing Olympics.
